Youth Service Fund (YSF) is a mission fund exclusively of United Methodist Youth. YSF is money raised by youth, spent by youth to benefit youth. One in-conference and one out-of-conference project is chosen from submissions made by agencies, camps, etc. Projects must be geared toward helping youth – past in-conference projects include: Atlantic Street Center, Lazy F Sound System, Deaconess Children’s Home and others. Out-of-conference projects have included Shaw Ave. Children’s Center in St. Louis, Mo, building a church in Zimbabwe, helping in Appalachia and more. Get your youth and church involved! Groups have had penny drives, spaghetti dinners, car washes, special offerings on Youth Sundays; the ways for youth to raise money to help youth are numerous. Some youth groups tithe each month. Monies earned can be turned in at Convo (usually Districts have some kind of challenge), MS/JH retreats or sent directly to the treasurer at the Conference Office. They may also be included with the church’s monthly remittance forms, but need to be designated for YSF. Grant applications are due November 15. Grants are determined in January and funds distributed in February and March. Grant applications are in the resources section of this booklet. Information about how to apply for YSF Funds from the Division on Ministries with Young People can be found on their website: |
